All 10 Prints $140.00 Available now. Computer Wallpaper $10.00 10 image-download. Available now. We've been raving about Rebekah Naomi Cox's artwork since we first saw it, and with good reason. (For the complete story of how Rebekah and Peter met, click here — it's pretty amazing.) We're not alone in loving Rebekah's work, either, because one of her digital paintings is now the cover of the Italian edition of The Last Unicorn, and another image is the new wraparound American cover. We are therefore incredibly pleased to offer twelve of Rebekah's exquisite creations, in two different forms: 1) 8.5" x 11" color prints. These prints can be ordered individually, as a complete set, or your choice of any five images. (You save money the more you buy.) 2) As wallpaper for your computer desktop, sized to perfectly fit your monitor's resolution. Here are Rebekah's images. Click on any of them to see a larger version. The Unicorn Lived in a Lilac Wood (cover of the new 40th Anniversary The Last Unicorn Prince Lir Writing Poetry The Harpy Celaeno Molly Grue The Lady Amalthea The Red Bull Moon Unicorn (cover of the new Italian trade paperback edition) Molly Grue and the Unicorn (art print only; not available as computer wallpaper) Schmendrick and Molly (art print only; not available as computer wallpaper) Last Unicorn Close-Up (computer wallpaper only; not available as a print) How Dare You Come to Me Now, When I Am This? (computer wallpaper only; not available as a print) According to Peter, Rebekah has come closer than anyone else to capturing "the unicorn that was in my head as I wrote." So why not enjoy her astonishing work for yourself? And for those of you who didn't already know, Rebekah, who is entirely self-taught, made most of these pictures when she was just 17 years old (she's 21 now). And she did them on her computer, drawing with a mouse, and using only a cheap $25 paint utility instead of a real graphics program. Like we said, amazing. And so she is. You can tell that just by looking into her eyes. Yes, I would like to buy some of Rebekah Naomi Cox's Last Unicorn Art.
LIMITED EDITION COLLECTOR'S ART PRINTS: HIDEMI KUBO'S ORIGINAL 1979 CHARACTER CONCEPT PAINTINGS FOR THE ANIMATED LAST UNICORN
Price: $20 per rermaining individual print (these are available through our shopping cart). Each print is 8.5" x 11" and signed on the back by Peter S. Beagle. Click the images below to see expanded close-ups (please note: the actual prints are sharper than the close-up images, because they are higher-resolution than your computer monitor).
In 1979, Rankin-Bass started work on an animated version of The Last Unicorn. They hired American artists to design the characters and "look" of the film, and Japanese animators to actually make everything come to life. But when the American character designs were delivered to Japan the animators weren't happy with them, and decided to offer up some alternatives instead. The paintings in this set, all by chief animator Hidemi Kubo, were the result. See for yourself which character designs made the cut, which were discarded, and which wound up being a combination of both Japanese and American influences! No one in the United States knew these images even existed until late 2006. When we learned about them we knew they had to be shared with the world, and promptly made arrangements with the rightsowners to release a limited edition of 500 sets of signed-and-numbered art prints. This edition premiered at A-Kon 2007 in Dallas, and was shown again at Anime Expo in Long Beach, Otakon in Baltimore, and DragonCon in Atlanta. These sets — and individual Last Unicorn, Full Cast, and Lady Amalthea prints — are sold out and no longer available for ordering. However, individual prints of the Red Bull and Mommy Fortuna are available through our shopping cart at $20 apiece.
