Gray Tan found us online from his home in Taiwan. His wasn't the first international email we got, in the early days of launching this site, but anything with a postscript that mentioned attending professional book fairs in both Taiwan and London was sure to grab some attention. (Have we mentioned that we are all serious book junkies, here?)
When subsequent emails revealed that Gray was the editor behind the Chinese publishing deals for two of Peter S. Beagle's books (The Last Unicorn and The Innkeeper's Song), we just had to learn more, so we asked him to tell us all about what he was up to. He replied with a list of literary and publishing credits that would have been impressive coming from anyone, but was especially so given his age and the fact that he was busy earning his BA and MA at the same time. Gray has not only been an editor, but also a bookseller, a translator, a nonfiction writer, a literary agent...and he's even written computer games, as well!
We're delighted to be working with Gray as we push ahead with Conlan Press business in Taiwan, China, and Thailand.
